Classroom Behavior

Raise your hand.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
Be kind.
Use your inside (level 1) voice.
Listen and follow directions.
Children are expected to follow these rules in order for our classroom to be an
inviting, safe, and positive learning environment. Each day the children start off
on “Ready to Learn.” If they are demonstrating kindness, being great listeners,
actively participating, and following directions; they may be asked to move their
clip up to “good day” or “outstanding!” If they are having a difficult time listening,
are not following directions, are unkind, or are not participating; they will be
asked to move their clip down to “think about it” or “parent contact.” They then
have the opportunity to move their clip back up by making good choices. If your
child ends up on “ready to learn,” “good day” or “outstanding” they earn a sticker
for their chart.
When your child earns 20 stickers they will choose a prize from the treasure box,
or a reward certificate; and will start a new sticker chart.
We follow the standards and rules outlined in the Holy Cross Handbook. Please
make sure you sign and return all necessary forms located in the Handbook.

The class rules were written together during the first few days of school.

1)  Keep your hands (and feet) to yourself.
2)  Raise your hand.
3)  Share with your friends.
4)  Speak quietly.

We have the rules displayed in our classroom.  Everyone (including the teachers) signed them to show that we all need to follow them.  This will make our classroom a happy and safe place where we can learn lots of new things.

Each day, students start off on green, “Ready to Learn”.  If they demonstrate kindness, good listening and follow directions, they may be asked to move up to purple, “Outstanding”.  If they have a difficult time listening and are not following directions, they will be asked to move down to yellow, “Think about it” or red, “Oh no, stop”.  They then have the opportunity to move their clip back up by making good choices.

If a student ends up on purple, they will earn a sticker on their chart.  After 5 stickers, they can choose a prize from the prize bin and will start a new chart.
