  Absence

Please call the school office between 8:15 and 8:45 am to report your child’s absence from school. New York State law requires a written excuse upon the child’s return.

 Tardiness**

Children who arrive after 8:50 a.m. are considered tardy and must report to the Nurse’s Office upon arrival to obtain a classroom pass. Children are not marked “tardy” for school bus transportation reasons.  **Please refer to the Student/Parent Handbook for more information.

 Early Dismissal

A written request must be sent into school if a child needs to be dismissed earlier than 3:00 p.m., stating the child's name, reason for early dismissal, date and time of dismissal, and the person picking up the student.

School districts may decide to close early due to inclement weather or emergency, and will send their district bus to Holy Cross earlier than usual. Please give your child instructions on what to do in this event. On these rare occasions, it is best that your child know what to do. It is almost impossible for us to contact every parent.

 School and Classroom Visitation Policy

Parents are a vital part of the elementary program at Holy Cross. We encourage you to keep in close contact with us. Open communication is the foundation for a successful relationship between you, your child and the school.

Parents and others are always welcome to visit the school at any time and should check in at the main office. Regular communication between parents and teachers is important to student achievement. Parents are encouraged to visit school and meet with teachers. Prior notice is important to proper planning for any parent-teacher conference.

Parents and others, with building principal approval and teacher notification, may visit the classroom during regular instruction. Parents and other are also welcome to attend school during plays, skits, concerts and other special activities; taping and photography during these events is permitted, provided it does not disrupt the activity and/or violate copyright laws.
