Profile of Holy Cross School, Dewitt

Holy Cross School is located on a scenic campus in Dewitt, New York. It offers a quality education for students from pre-K to 6th grade. Present enrollment is approximately 180 students. Itis a faith filled community, dedicated to raising service minded, intellectually prepared, leaders. They are innovative, creative and technologically advanced. The curriculum at Holy Cross is exemplary.

Holy Cross School’s mission is to provide each and every one of its students the opportunity to grow. Spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically in an environment that is safe, warm, and caring. Each child is unique in the eyes of God and has special talents and gifts.

Students in grades K-6 attend classes in the Library Media Center for 40 minutes each week. A love of reading, together with familiarity of the resources available in the library, and lessons in Information Literacy are emphasized. The students also have access to over 7,000 books that they can borrow from each week.

Sports activities that are offered to the students include basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, and spring track. Students may also participate in band, drama, Lego robotics club, biologist club, journalism, and choir.

The facilities and resources available to the students of Holy Cross are without equal. The close relationship between the pastor and the school is obvious. The school and campus were immaculate.

We would recommend that the administration of Holy Cross School share their knowledge of current curriculum and technology with other System schools. The “Educate a Kid” program is also something to be shared with other schools.
