Academic Games Schedule of Events

Dear Parents,

It’s that great time of the year when we have an opportunity to celebrate our students’ gifts and talents!  On Saturday March 10, 2018, Bishop Grimes Jr. /Sr. High School will host the annual Academic Games.  The Academic Games are offered to students attending area Catholic schools and several faith formation groups in grades K-6.  The purpose of this event is:

  • to develop self-esteem and dignity through excellence in academic/cultural achievement
  • to interact and socialize with students from neighboring Catholic schools/churches
  • to promote quality Catholic education
  • to have FUN!

As a result of feedback from parents and schools, and in an effort to be most efficient, scheduling improvements have been made. You will notice some events, held in late morning, have similar start times. Do not be concerned, as students participating in multiple events will be scheduled accordingly and made aware of room assignments at the games.

Event categories include Math, Spelling, Lego Robotics, Oratory, Science, Art-Drawing/Painting, Music (Vocal/Instrumental), Essay, and Religion. Students may enter more than one category. A description of each event is enclosed AND entries falling outside of event requirements will be disqualified. Contestants participate on an individual basis and must be accompanied by an adult throughout the day.  Test papers will not be returned.

Please note:  Kindergarten students are eligible to participate in the following categories: Art-Drawing/Painting, Oratory, Music (Vocal/Instrumental), Religion and Science.

The games are designed so ALL K-6 grade students can participate. If students are unable to attend activities on 3/10, they can submit entries in Religion, Art-Drawing/Painting and/or Original Essay.

If your child/children are participating, please complete the registration online by Friday, February 2nd. Please click here to registration online. Students register individually.  If you need assistance with registration, please contact the Bishop Grimes Admission Dept. at (315) 315-7157 ext. 3.

Completed entries in Art-Drawing/Painting, Essay, and Religion categories are due to your Academic Games point of contact at your school (or parish office, for students entering from Faith Formation programs) by Tuesday, 2/27.    These entries will be judged prior to the event and displayed at the games. Students may pick up projects after participating in their last event of the day. Otherwise, projects will be returned to students’ Academic Games point of contact.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded to winners in each event at every grade level. Honorable Mention Ribbons may be awarded in some categories. Every student will receive a Participation Ribbon. Awards will be presented via each student’s school or parish.

Event Descriptions are included to provide you and your child more information for each category and may also be found at .  If you have questions, please call the Bishop Grimes Admissions Office at (315) 314-7157, ext. 3.
